About MJ

As a military spouse and civil litigation paralegal, M.J. Signe dedicates her limited free time to creative pursuits. In early adulthood, she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type II with Mixed Features and Rapid Cycling, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Asociality (also known as "Asocial"). Undoubtedly, mental health has played a significant role in her life.

Relying on logic instead of emotion to handle daily tasks has posed challenges for M.J. in managing her mood disorder. During intense mood swings, logical principles often break down. She has come to realize that her neurochemistry, along with other factors, plays a crucial role in her daily mood changes.

Over time, she discovered various methods to cope with her disorder. Writing has become one of her most essential outlets, allowing her to express her emotional struggles through stories and characters. By creating intense scenes of angst and conflict for her fictional characters, M.J. can process her emotions from a logical, detached viewpoint.

While she strives to write in her own voice, many of her favorite authors have inspired her to craft morally grey, complex, and diverse characters without guilt. Her main influences include B.M. Clemton, Dylan Page, Sam Hall, Pam Godwin, Sam Mariano, Theodora Taylor, and Kristy Cunning.

M.J. Signe now happily resides in the Florida Panhandle with her husband, a retired Air Force veteran, and their cat, Lily. When she's not working or writing, she enjoys her guilty pleasures, such as reading dark romance novels, watching cheesy reality TV, or spending time with her husband. She embraces her asocial nature and rarely chooses to be outside her home or at large public events. Due to her professional career and asocial lifestyle, M.J. Signe writes under this pen name and prefers to remain away from social media and the public eye.
